Zoe decided today was the day she’d do some walking around the room.  Chrissy stood her up and pointed her that way and off she went!  Usually she’ll just toddle off a bit in Mommy’s direction and sometimes in mine.. but never yet has she explored on her own or chased down a pomeranian!  Yay for Zoe!

She’s awesome.  I’ll think I’ll build her a tree swing soon.

Happy Birthday to you Zoe Amaya!

Today was a magical day in which Zoe successfully turned One Year Old!  She had lunch with Grandma Karen – it was lasagna, some bread, milk, water and cheerios!

After a post-lunch nap Zoe, Mommy and Grandma Karen went for a car ride to the park to hike and play with fellow babies Quinn and Rafe!  Here Zoe is playing with pine needles and perhaps some roaming slug or wild pinecone…

Also around for her birthday is Uncle Matt and Daddy of course!  Let’s rejoice in Zoe’s glory for she is the Baby of the cutest and happiest stuff around!  Just ask the Trader Joe’s workers that see her every Saturday!

We love you Zoe Amaya….

Mommy and Daddy

Big event this Christmas!  Nope, it wasn’t about JC or the super-awesome gingerbread cookies I made.  It was Zoe’s First Christmas AND she took her first few steps by herself!  Here’s a short clip roughly a week later since the camera wasn’t rolling during that spontaneous walking episode.

So she’s getting better and better as the days pass.  She walks assisted with one hand only throughout the entire house and driveway all the time.  And sometimes during a walking lesson by herself between Mommy and myself, she’ll pause halfway to just stand there.  No wobbling or anything… and I tell ya it’s weird seeing this little person just standing there.  We’re so used to seeing her sitting or crawling around.  Happy parents we are!  It was a nice present for us this Christmas!

love from this little family this holiday season!

It’s her first christmas and she has no clue of course.  We’re thinking it’ll be all about the wrapping paper – the ripping off of the wrapping paper.  It’s been a little while since the last post.  We flew to New Hampshire for Thanksgiving Day and stayed with Grandma Karen and Grandpa Joe for nearly two weeks.  It was very fun watching Zoe scoot around in the driveway in her thingy-ma-bob thingy with wheels on it…  Whatever it’s called. The trip was most excellent and we miss it already!  Zoe turned 10 months old there.  Double digits!  We can’t believe it.  In fact since she’s so “big”, when we got home we started measuring her height even though she’s not standing on her own yet.

Zoe's first mark on the dresser.

We chose a dresser leg to record her growth rather than a doorway that would be tougher to bring with us when we move someday.

Below is a pre-Christmas shot of her in a nice dress with her first Christmas ornament.  It’s a crab if you can’t tell.  It is a gift from Grandma Karen from the New England Aquarium.  Isn’t she cute?

All dressed up with her very first Christmas ornament!

So her 11 month birthday is coming up this tuesday.  YAY!  …and here’s a funny one with blowing bubbles!

First off – a cute baby shot!

Hi...

Then on Zoe’s 9 month birthday Chrissy made a halloween costume.  Super Grover!!!  It’s from scratch based on a onesie pattern.

Super Grover to the rescue!

Then the cape – which every superhero should have.

Dazzling!

We’ll see how she looks at the halloween thingy at the Northridge Mall on Monday.  More pics to come!

She already loves fast, sexy bikes!  I’ll guess I’ll save this one for her when she’s able to ride.

I’m so proud.  Can you see the adoration in her eyes?  I even think the bus loves Zoe just as much!  Like Romeo and Juliet they stare through the screen door adoringly…  No.. I won’t snap out of it.  This is what life’s about.

She loves a nice splittie!

I’ve just been adding a fresh set of photos to Zoe’s 8 month folder.  I thought I’d toss in a couple black and whites.  They’re fun here and there!  She’s on the living room rug considering standing up next to her Mommy’s piece of luggage.  It’s still on the floor from her Return-trip from Florida last Saturday.

Just cute.

I’m not really sure what the get-up is that Zoe’s wearing.  For the record…. Daddy didn’t dress her today.  I’m thinking she might be flogging linens out on the line later today or…. something.

She uses luggage to practice standing.

Zoe’s making huge progress lately.  She and Chrissy took their first plane ride together earlier this week to Florida to see Chrissy’s aunt.  It was only 5 days but the improvements I noticed when she returned were amazing.  More strength and energy and power-crawling around!  I think soon she’ll be mowing the lawn and torquing VW bus nuts with Daddy!

Then there’s this practice session that surprised me.

I thought I’d try the fast-motion capture on the phone to show the impatient of us her trends in crawling.. Her technique is easily seen here:   enjoy :)

In case you think Zoe is being weird for no reason then look close in the background at the two beady eyes poking out of the dog bed.  Then later on you’ll notice Zoe practicing her clapping, waving and crawling.  She’s a pro at smiling though!
